PARAMEDIC CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Ohio Hi Point has partnered with Clark State Community College to bring their Paramedic Certificate Program to the Bellefontaine Campus. This program provides quality education in the “art and science” of advanced out-of-hospital emergency care. The curriculum provides for integration of knowledge and skills including pre-hospital environment, preparatory skills, trauma and burns, medical emergencies, OB/GYN emergencies, behavioral emergencies and crisis intervention. Upon successful completion, the student will meet and exceed the objectives of the National Standard Paramedic Training Curriculum, providing eligibility for National Registry Certification exam. Travel will be required for certain course work and clinicals. Medical Terminology and Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology are pre-requisite courses.

Emergency Medical First Responder
In an emergency, a first responder may render emergency medical services such as opening and maintaining an airway, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, controlling of hemorrhage, Manuel stabilization of fractures, bandaging, assisting in child birth, and determining triage of trauma victims.
 
Emergency Medical Technician Basic
An Emergency Medical Technician-Basic may operate an ambulance. In an emergency, an EMT-basic may determine the nature and extent of illness or injury. An EMT-basic may render emergency medical services such as opening and maintaining an airway, giving positive pressure ventilation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, controlling of hemorrhage, treatment of shock, immobilization of fractures, bandaging, assisting in child birth, management of special circumstance patients ( ie: poisoning, burns, special needs patients). An EMT-basic may assess the extent of injury and render all possible emergency medical services and protection to the entrapped patient; provide light rescue services and after extrication, provide additional triage in accordance with standard emergency procedures.
 
Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate
An EMT-I may do any of the items an EMT-basic can do plus the following; Establish and maintain an intravenous lifeline that has been approved by the Medical Director, perform cardiac monitoring, perform electrical interventions to support or correct cardiac function, administer medications approved by Medical Director
 
Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic
Ohio Hi-Point has partnered with Clark State Community College to bring the Paramedic Program to the Bellefontaine Campus. An EMT-P may do any of the items an EMT-I can do plus the curriculum meets and exceeds the objectives of the National Standard Paramedic Training Curriculum, providing eligibility for National Registry Certification exam
 
Emergency Medical Technician Basic Refresher
An EMT-Basic refresher course is a 30 hour course that covers trauma issues, pediatrics, medical emergencies, geriatrics, cardiology, airway, EMS Operations, and OB-GYN.
 
Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate Refresher
An EMT-I Refresher course is a 40 hour course containing trauma and triage issues, pediatric, medical emergencies, geriatrics, cardiology, airway, EMS Operations and OB-GYN
