Mathematics
Basic Math III
Basic Math studies basic math skills involving whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. Goals include reading, setting up and solving story problems, measuring and converting, reading graphs, and solving one step equations. This course is for students not attempting to pass the Ohio Graduation Test. (1/2 credit per semester)
Basic Math IV
This course examines fundamental mathematics skills involving whole numbers, decimals and fractions. Goals include reading, setting up and solving story problems, measuring, using a ruler, using conversions, and money applications. This course is for students not attempting to pass the Ohio Graduation test. (1/2 credit per semester).
Integrated Math III
Integrated Math III includes a review of basic math skills as well as applying basic algebra to solving real life problems. It stresses the use of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions as well as percents, measurements, and formulas. Basic geometry principals will be covered. The class will focus on preparing for the Ohio Graduation Test standards and students must be attempting to pass the OGT. (1/2 credit per semester)
Algebra I
This is a year long course in which students will gain a deeper understanding of algebraic ideas. Topics include expressions, equations, systems of equations, inequalities, functions, and graphic representations. Students who master the subject matter will gain a base of mathematical and reasoning skills that will be carried on to further study and careers. (1/2 credit per semester)
Geometry (pre-requisite Algebra I)
Application of geometry theorems and postulates covers a variety of fields. Topics covered include logic and reasoning, parallels, congruent triangles, quadrilaterals, similarity, right angles, trigonometry, circles, polygons, area, surface area, volume, graphing, and coordinate geometry. (1/2 credit per semester)
Algebra II (pre-requisite Algebra I)
Algebra II emphasizes the order of operations and the subsets of real numbers. Topics include solving and graphing linear, quadratic, and polynomial equations; conic sections; complex numbers; and trigonometry. (1/2 credit per semester)
College Math
This class is for seniors getting ready to go onto college. We will work with graphing calculators so students can do better on the ACT, SAT and college entry tests. This class was developed with teachers from other schools and professors from Rhodes State College. The curriculum will focus on the core concepts needed to avoid math remediation at the college level. (1/2 credit per semester)
Pre-calculus (Pre-requisite-Algebra 2)
Topics covered will include solving equations and inequalities, continuity, complex numbers, logarithms and exponentials trigonometry, vectors, polar, parametric equations, conics, sequences, series, and matrices. (1/2 credit per semester)
Calculus
A formal study of topics from calculus that is not associated with the Advanced Placement Program. Includes the study of limit, series, differentiation and integration
